Grass seed rate by grass type
Grass seed is applied by pounds per 1,000 sq ft, and the right rate depends on the grass type. New lawns seed at the full rate; overseeding uses about half. The values below are labeled planning typicals — always use the rate printed on your seed bag. Use them in the grass-seed calculator.
